Quite often when I'm working on a painting, I will switch between various styles as I go. Not consciously. It just happens.

Upon realising this I then decide which of the styles I prefer, and go over the rest of the painting, harmonising it. Not always. Sometimes I like mixing styles and having areas that don't particularly match each other, like when I would use stippling only on the faces in some of my white ink paintings. Or painting faces realistically, then stylising the surrounding leaves.

Sometimes I don't know, and wonder if I should make more of a conscious effort to make my paintings make "sense".

Sometimes I drink lemon and ginger tea.
